The world runs on email, but you don’t want it to run you. And yet, your inbox is overflowing.
Enter what I call the email paradox – which is to say that if you want to receive less email, one way to tame the inflow is to answer the mails you receive.
Think about how much time you spend following up with people who haven’t answered your requests for information, updates, or work they’re supposed to have delivered. Now think about how many times YOU fail to answer.
It takes a second or to to type “Got it!” or “On it!” or “I’ll let you know by Friday.”
That way people don’t have to follow up with YOU – and your inbox becomes a little calmer.
